💜 Career Well-being: Struggling to Land a Job?

Dear Thriving Introvert! In this newsletter, I'll cover:

  • Feeling Stuck in Your Job Search? Here’s How to Keep Going
  • Your LinkedIn Experience Section Is Holding You Back
  • April is Stress Awareness Month

"Ana, my son just got a job in tech after 7 months searching!"

Said the proud dad, smiling and grateful, as we gathered for an in-person meeting.

I'm always happy to hear when someone gets a job, especially if they used some of my tips. But, it's tough to hear SEVEN months searching. However, this long job search process is becoming a reality for many job seekers.

  • How do you keep showing up for yourself when it feels like every door is shut?
  • What do you say when people ask about your job search for the 10th time?
  • How do you take care of your mental well-being when dealing with rejection?

These are real questions people asked me during coaching calls, and I wanted to give you some answers to help you stay motivated while you handle the job search process.

💡 Feeling Stuck in Your Job Search? Here’s How to Keep Going

A long job search can feel like an emotional rollercoaster. The endless applications, rejections (or worse—silence), and the pressure to “put yourself out there” can be exhausting.

If you’re feeling discouraged, know this: You’re not alone, and there are ways to stay motivated while keeping your well-being intact.

Why Does Job Searching Take So Long?

A job search lasting over six months can feel endless, but it’s not uncommon, especially for mid-to-senior professionals. Factors like high competition, industry shifts, and the hidden job market all play a role.

Instead of applying aimlessly, a targeted job search can lead to better results with less frustration.

This means:

✅ Customizing your resume and LinkedIn profile for each opportunity.

✅ Networking in authentic ways (no forced small talk required!).

✅ Applying strategically, rather than mass-sending applications.

Handling Unwanted Questions from Family & Friends

“Well-meaning” questions like ‘Any job updates?’ can feel overwhelming. Prepare polite but firm responses to set boundaries:

🔹 “I’m focusing on targeted opportunities and will share updates when there’s news.”

🔹 “Thanks for checking in! I’m making progress and staying optimistic.”

A long job search doesn’t define you—it’s just a season. The right opportunity is out there, and your effort will pay off.

💻 Your LinkedIn Experience Section Is Holding You Back

In case you missed last week's article, I discussed How to Optimize Your LinkedIn Experience Section to Stand Out. Most people treat their LinkedIn experience section like a copy-paste version of their resume. But that’s a mistake. If your experience section is just a list of job titles and a few bullet points, you’re missing out on a powerful opportunity to attract recruiters using strategic keywords. This article has examples of how you can improve your experience section.

💜 April is Stress Awareness Month

The pressure to find the right role, the uncertainty of waiting, and the emotional ups and downs can take a toll.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, remember:

✔️ You’re not behind—you’re on your own timeline.
✔️ A job title doesn’t define your worth.
✔️ Taking breaks is productive too.

Give yourself permission to navigate the job search with grace instead of grit.

Prioritize your well-being—because a job is important, but so is your health.
